From time to time, WFO offers extended tours and expeditions, often to international birding sites of special ornithological interest. Some expeditions focus on research while others offer expert leadership and access to places usually inaccessible to the general public.

WFO is offering an eight-day field trip to Northeast California in June 2013 (for details download the document below). We give WFO members the first option to register for our field trips and this trip is already full. However, there is still room on the Wait List for this trip. Cuba with Jon Dunn - March 18 - 30, 2013 - The Cuba Trip is SOLD OUT and the waiting list is full
Western Field Ornithologists is collaborating with the Caribbean Conservation Trust, Inc. on this US government approved trip which will visit rarely explored parts of Cuba, the Caribbean’s largest and most ecologically diverse island nation. This is the 4th program that WFO has collaborated with CCT on since 2006. Along with WFO leader Jon Dunn, our team will include a bilingual Cuban tour leader, and local naturalists. 3rd Annual Purple Martin Study Expedition on Tejon Ranch, California - June 13-17, 2012 - Expedition has concluded.
The Tejon Ranch Conservancy in partnership with Audubon California and Western Field Ornithologists is conducting a survey of Purple Martins on Tejon Ranch to improve our understanding of one of the most important Purple Martin populations in California. This survey involves 4 nights of camping in the Tehachapi Mountains on the Ranch.
